Motionball’s annual Toronto Gala raises $275K for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation

On Friday, Feb. 7, Toronto’s sold-out motionball Gala, presented by CI Financial, entertained more than 2,000 guests with a Casino Royale theme. It was a night of glamour and giving, raising $275,000 net for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
Last week, motionball also announced that it had surpassed $20 million in overall fundraising, a milestone achievement for the grassroots organization since its founding 23 years ago.
The evening began with a private three-course dinner for 50 celebrity Special Olympics athletes, sponsors, and VIP guests, including Tessa Virtue, Gurdeep Ahluwalia, Pooja Handa, Leo Rautins, and more. Hosted by Breakfast Television’s Devo Brown, guests were treated to musical performances by The 99’s, Alyssa Morrissey, DJ Clymaxx, DJ DXB, and more.
Guests also enjoyed specialty drinks from Angel’s Envy & Patron, Heineken, Redbreast Irish Whiskey, Tito’s, JP Wiser’s, and late-night bites from Pizzaville and Blue Bovine.
Motionball is a national non-profit organization raising funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation (SOCF) through inclusive social and sporting events in cities across Canada. Throughout the motionball calendar year, over 12,500 supporters and Special Olympics athletes participate in 50+ annual events in 17 Canadian cities and 34 university campuses. motionball aims to provide a sustainable funding model and base of supporters for the Special Olympics movement by engaging and empowering young professionals and university students.
