The Canadian designer, Jon De Porter known as the ‘Prince of Pearls’ due to his distinguishable jewelry collection, has just stepped into the world of ready-to-wear clothing, launching his first ready-to-wear collection.
Meet Jon De Porter, a two-time CAFA finalist and Canadian fashion designer who just made his runway debut with his first ready-to-wear Cruise collection. The internationally-recognized designer known for his intricate and distinguishable jewelry collection delved into the world of fashion to pursue his dream of designing apparel for the modern woman.
“Being a classic designer, I’m always inspired by decades of 20th-century fashion that I haven’t lived through and the great European couturiers who created iconic lines, silhouettes and styles that still endure today,” said Jon De Porter.
Cruise 2023 was designed with the accomplished woman vacationing on the Amalfi coast in mind. Each piece is the perfect addition to a summer wardrobe or for warmer climates away from the long Canadian winters. The refined womenswear collection consists of dresses perfect for strolling the streets of Positano, sportswear pieces that playfully reference the baseball uniform, and evening looks reminiscent of the silver screen classics in Italy and Hollywood.
The collection features premium linens in a variety of textures, digital prints, as well as wrinkle-free crêpe and chiffon for elegant and light summer dressing. Each piece from the collection is made in Toronto at Jon De Porter’s atelier.
The Montreal-born designer studied fashion design at Lasalle College in Montreal and delved into the world of jewelry design after an impromptu visit to a Chinese pearl market. Simultaneously, Jon De Porter has been a merchant of traditional Italian linen, ceramics, fine foods, and fashion at his Toronto store, Misto Lino.
Through his adoration of quality and luxury, Jon’s newest venture, Cruise 2023, has allowed him to pursue his dream of designing apparel for modern women.
Following Jon De Porter’s Cruise debut will be the launch of his first Career collection focusing on what the accomplished modern woman would wear to work.
