Colour, colour and more colour please!
No matter where you look, it’s obvious that the trend for 2022 has been bright, vibrant and loud looks. The statement, “that colour doesn’t look good on me,” well we’re sending it to the bottom of Lake Ontario because every colour looks good on you and can if you pair it right. To prove this even more, I’ve rounded up some pieces that I would’ve never in a million years considered on my skin tone but I think you’ll agree, it was all in my head.
Starting off with this power suit by Smythe.
Let’s call this colour ocean green because it sounds so much better than dark mint. Plus, not everyone likes mint flavour and I don’t want to leave a bad taste in your mouth. Back to the suit, what I love about it is the small checkered pattern that mutes the ocean green just enough for it to be subdued to the eye but doesn’t lose its vibrancy. You could easily throw on a white cami under it because it’s summer. I’ve added a low cut off-white top to add a sexy summer vibe.
Orange – aren’t you glad this colour is back?! Not apologizing for the cheesy pun because this dress from H&M gets me so excited. Everything from the fire tangerine colour to the pleats, the cape like structure and the movement in the fabric. It can be worn with flats to add the draped-on-the-floor look or with heels for a more cocktail vibe.
Now I know I promised lots of colour but, for my favourite bikini and accessories for this summer, I’m keeping it classic with black, gold and a dark denim Levi’s jacket. Why dark denim? Because it’s the opposite of what most people would wear in summer and I’m all about breaking “fashion rules”. I can’t say enough about this beautiful two piece set by Londre, a Vancouver based company dedicated to keeping sustainability in the forefront. The fit is incredible, and accentuates all my curves in all the right ways. I’ll take it in every colour! As for the jacket, Levi’s has been killing it with the denim shades and this dark blue in particular with the distressed bottom looks so cute beachside. Throw on some gold to finish the look and you’re beachside fancy!
