Low-waste shop dedicated to ridding the world of single-use plastic, The Keep Refillery opens its fourth location in Toronto’s Seaton Village

The Keep Refillery, a one-stop low-waste shop, announced today its fourth Ontario location is set to open on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at 637 Dupont Street in Toronto.

The Keep Refillery Toronto will join its other popular locations in Creemore, Meaford and Kingston to bring a wide range of locally sourced, all-natural, organic, biodegradable, cruelty-free and plastic-free products for home and personal living to the community.

Every single product at The Keep is thoroughly researched and tested by The Keep Refillery to ensure its products are highly effective. In addition, The Keep holds all of its suppliers accountable for their waste and ensures they are practicing closed-loop sustainability to meet The Keep Refillery’s high standards.

Dedicated to ridding the world of single-use plastic, The Keep Refillery’s main mission is to make living a low-waste lifestyle attainable and affordable one community at a time through the act of refilling. At The Keep, customers are encouraged to get creative and bring empty reusable containers from their homes to refill with anything from shampoo and conditioner to laundry detergent and face wash, refillable containers are also available for purchase at the shop. And in case customers forgot to bring a reusable container, The Keep has a, ‘take a jar, leave a jar’ program where customers can leave behind what they don’t need and take what they do.

“Only 9% of plastic is recycled, and it’s just not good enough,” said Jacquie Rushlow, co-founder of The Keep Refillery. “Almost anything can be refilled nowadays, and it’s by taking small actions, person to person, community to community, that we can make effective change. We are excited to bring The Keep Refillery to Toronto and help the Toronto community eliminate plastic and harmful toxic chemicals from their lives.”

And The Keep has a strong community of investors supporting them – Christine Day (The House of LR&C, Lululemon Athletica), Paul Hollands (A&W) and Nicole Vollebregt (On Purpose Group, Adidas) have come together to provide mentorship and capital in order to bring The Keep to more communities.

“As the co-founder of a sustainable fashion house, I care deeply about creating businesses that lead the way in reducing our environmental footprint. Jacquie’s passion for eliminating single-use plastic in our daily lives through The Keep Refillery does exactly this,” said Christine Day, co-founder of The House of LR&C and investor in The Keep Refillery. “It proves we know enough today to make a significant difference – we can take action now with simple changes. It is good for people, the planet and it is good business as well.”

The Keep Refillery is also equipped to take on the accommodation and hotels industry to help businesses create sustainable practices, as hotels account for 9% of the waste that ends up in landfills. The Keep Refillery is looking forward to bringing its accommodation program to the Toronto market following the just launched partnership with Langdon Hall, Country House & Spa, a Relais & Châteaux property, to overhaul its in-room amenities. The Keep moved the property into a sustainable, low-waste system making it the first Ontario hotel with an in-house refillery.

The Keep Refillery was co-founded in early 2020 by wife and husband duo, Jacquie Rushlow and Andrew Murray, to create a mission-first solution to radically change how we care for ourselves, our homes and our communities by eliminating plastic waste and refilling daily essentials. Jacquie decided to boldly leave her thriving career in television production to open the first location of The Keep with Andrew in a small tire shed within their local community in Creemore, Ontario. Within three years, The Keep Refillery has expanded to include four brick-and-mortar locations: Creemore, Meaford, Kingston and now, Toronto, as well as partnered with Langdon Hall and other hospitality businesses to help them eliminate plastic waste.
