Nine Must-Do Experiences at IDS Vancouver 2024

Pacific platform for all things design returns to Vancouver Convention Centre, September 26-29

The Interior Design Show Vancouver (IDS), presented by Miele, returns to the Vancouver Convention Centre’s West building, from September 26-29. The Pacific platform for all things design, IDS Vancouver 2024, will elevate immersive and inspiring designs, encouraging attendees to explore the ways design continues to adapt, shift and shape the world as we know it.

“We are eager to welcome industry leaders and design enthusiasts to experience the immersive and inspiring programming at this year’s IDS Vancouver,” says Will Sorrell, National Director at IDS Vancouver. “As attendees explore innovative and cutting-edge designs, they will have the opportunity to learn and engage first-hand with designers and exhibitors marvelling together on the future of design and how it will continue to shape our lives.”

With no shortage of engaging seminars and keynotes, must-see installations and awe-inspiring art, IDS Vancouver 2024 is the hottest design ticket in town. Streamline your visit by adding these nine experiences to your bucket list:

Learning To Be

Welcoming guests to IDS Vancouver 2024 is the entrance feature “Learning To Be”, a thought-provoking art piece born from urban salvage, reminding audiences of the beauty of nature and the value of accepting the unfamiliar. Designed by Vancouver-based artist Brett Comber, “Learning To Be” comprises three sculpted objects that reflect the Pacific Northwest, made entirely from local, sustainably sourced materials.

Echoes

Echoes is a large-scale ceramic work by Gabrielle Burke, owner of Community Clay a Vancouver-based Artist Run Studio. The ceramic works are hand-thrown and carved by hand using recycled clay, and reflect the contemplative and evolving nature of ceramics.

BonBon Lounge

Providing a space to sit and rest at IDS Vancouver is BonBon by HEREBY, a lightweight, modular furniture system composed of colorful, nesting modules that can be stacked and arranged into countless configurations, encouraging users of all ages to unleash their creativity

Future Neighbourhood

Wander through the immersive Future Neighbourhood to explore how interior design will continue to adapt and shape the way humans live. Designs include:

  • Don’t Forget Me, designed by AD Projects x WAO: Invites attendees into a dialogue exploring the evolving relationship between humans and AI within the realm of design.
  • Petit Architect, designed by Petit Architect: Children and youth can envision what their future cities might look like by participating in a design process building a group model.
  • Micro-Hood, designed by SvN: Here, attendees will find a visionary approach to neighbourhood development aiming to create resilient, lower-carbon communities while addressing challenges within the construction industry.
  • Addapt, designed by Leckie Studio: Inspired by the Japanese bento lunchbox within which individual compartments are contained, Addapt dwellings can be added and/or reconfigured as housing needs change.

Studio North

Studio North, presented by supporting sponsor RIZE, is a gallery-like setting showcasing custom work from the highest calibre of Canadian and international designers. This year’s Studio North features one-off and custom collections from designers such as Oehl Interiors, Annaka Hoelk Studio, Blake Makes, Lakaz Studio, Marko Barakoski, Liam Borsa Design and Capella Design.

Prototype

Located with Studio North, Prototype, presented by supporting sponsor RIZE, is a juried platform featuring products not currently in production that bring new ideas and innovation to the forefront for the residential market. Comprising notable and influential members of the design community, Prototype 2024 jurors include Michael London, Interior Designer, Michael London Design; Anna Kao, Director, dkstudio architects inc.; and Andrew Lockhart, Founder, Atmospheric Perspectives.
