Details announced for Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week Spring 2024 showcase

Prominent fashion week to feature bold runway shows from over 40 Canadian designers, two ‘shop local’ retail boutiques, stylish art installations & immersive Fashion Playground

Toronto’s leading multi-arts fashion platform Fashion Art Toronto today announced details for its Spring 2024 installation of Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week. Running Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 5 at Black Creek Assembly (131 McCormack St.), fashion week in Toronto will channel all things in ‘Bloom’ to bring stylish spring vibes to Toronto’s fashion scene.

Guests will experience runway shows featuring contemporary, avant-garde and experiential collections from more than 40 Canadian designers as well as an entertainment-filled Fashion Playground that boasts a 1664 Bar, guest lounge, 50-foot pink carpet, endless photo opportunities, two retail pop-ups with goods from over 25 local brands and artisans, and provocative fashion-inspired art installations.

Tickets to Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week, including weekend and day passes, VIP front row tickets, single show tickets and student tickets, are now available online.

​​Premium beer brand Kronenbourg 1664 is celebrating its first season as title partner of Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week. The official beer of fashion week in Toronto, 1664 will bring good taste with a twist to Toronto’s fashion community by engaging guests with chic brand activations, photo opportunities, product sampling, exciting contests and more. 1664 Fashion Week will also celebrate the launch of the brand new 1664 Rosé – a balanced and delicately sweet wheat beer with a hint of red berries. It is the perfect accessory to celebrating Canadian fashion!

Attendees can expect edgy streetwear, ultra-glam gowns, cool genderless designs, innovative sustainable collections, and so much more,” said Vanja Vasic, founder and executive director, Fashion Art Toronto. “Our designers, models, artists and guests bring it every single season with their incredible style, on and off the runway, highlighting why Toronto is a hub for fashion innovation and trendsetting. We can’t wait to see everyone – and all the boundary-pushing ‘fits – this May!”

Fashion week’s opening night (Thursday, May 2) will see buzzy runway shows from Prescribed Shelter, Signed by Dahliah, Kyle Gervacy, OAMA and Ali Hader Couture.

Fashion Art Toronto is sponsoring a special The Black Designers of Canada showcase and on Friday, May 3 they will present two group runway shows featuring black owned brands including Kali Works, Mufaro Mukoki, SOAP Studios and Vibe The People. Artist and musician Roney X will also take to the runway to entertain guests with a special performance.

Those looking to support and shop local designers can visit the on-site Fashion & Beauty Boutique, a large retail space with apparel, jewellery, accessories and beauty products from 24 Canadian artisans and brands including 1964 Brand, Anziety, Art & Alchemy Parfum, Ballerism Activewear, Clutch-It Handbags, DIFFERENT., Elaine.Official, JustOne, Kali Works, Ken & Jame, Lowen Designs, Maverick Eden, MizDragonfly, Mohala Grey, Nokubu Botanicals, Repulo’s, Sydney Greer, Stoned & Grounded, SUR MOI, ULA, Wicked Lovely and World of Folklore

Back for a second season, guests can visit and shop at the Boutique Pop-Up, also located in the Fashion Playground. This luxury pop-up shop concept featuring a curated collection of black-owned fashion, accessories, beauty and lifestyle brands.

Exhibited in spaces and on walls throughout the Fashion Playground, attendees can take in experimental fashion-inspired art installations from local artists including Lindsay Anne Delaney, Nick Merzetti and Gates Tucker.

Toronto’s premium catering company Kanvas returns as the official culinary partner, serving up gourmet bites for guests to enjoy between shows, and Toronto’s Bloom Bar Studio is generously providing all the florals to fill the Fashion Playground with stylish spring vibes. Smart Water also returns as a proud event partner, refreshing guests throughout fashion week.

To wrap the event with a bang, on Sunday, May 5th Liminul Magazine and Fashion Art Toronto are collaborating to host a massive fashion week after party at Geary Avenue Warehouse (209 Geary Ave). Tickets available to purchase online.

Fashion Art Toronto is also excited to announce its third year partnering with Artist Project, producing art-inspired fashion pop-ups for the esteemed contemporary art fair. Guests can take in runway shows with imaginative collections from designers ASHES and House of Etoile on Opening Night (Thursday, April 11), as well as shop local designers at the pop-up Fashion Art Toronto Boutique all weekend long.

Featuring over 250 independent artists, Artist Project takes place at the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto and runs from April 11 through April 14, 2024. Tickets are now available at theartistproject.com.
